I could never repay my parents for introducing me to the love of the outdoors. My dad took me fishing just about every week either at the farm pond or at nearby lakes. He told me I started crying when I caught my first fish at age 2 on Lake Bardwell near Ennis, Texas.

At 7, I would haul my fishing poles on my bike to the ponds in the neighborhood. It was just a thrill for me to feel a fish tug the line. I would drag the fish I caught home where mom would fry them up.

I got my first bass boat, a Ranger, at 18 and that is when I began my tournament fishing career. I fished local and state tournaments from 1983 until 2005, but fishing on a higher level was always my dream.

If it weren’t for the love and encouragement of my wife Diane, I would have never been able to follow my dream. Because of her, I began fishing the FLW (Forrest L. Wood) Stren Series in 2005 as a co-angler and as a boater since 2006. I will be fishing for WalMart for the 2008 FLW Tour season.
